Abstract
Discusses the aesthetic placing and appearance of titles for the information of bookbinders. Argues that some printers' typefaces are unsuitable for successful titling. Creatively designed letters, in harmony with the cover decoration and applied as leather onlays, may be more appropriate in some instances than conventional leather tooling.
